South Africa has some 3000kms of coast line. Some of the National Parks found on the coast offer good boating facilities in or near the park.
3-day canoe trails and casual boating is available at Wilderness. Casual boating and canoeing can also be done at Golden Gate, Tsitsikamma and Knysna. The Lagoon in the Westcoast National Park offers good sailing and Kayaking.
Along KwaZulu-Natal's beautiful coast from Kosi Bay and Sodwana to Maphelana, KZN Wildlife maintains official ski boat launch sites that provide access to ski boats for game fish angling and scuba diving on the southern most coral reefs in Africa.
Rivers such as the Thukela, the Bushmans, the Umgeni and the Mkomazi, provide white water excitement for canoeists and kayakers in their upper reaches.
The numerous dams found in KwaZulu-Natal offer a range of boating activities. Midmar offers a private boat hire facility and visitors can choose from a variety of craft, both powered and sail.
